Teddy Bears Picnic for Kidz First
Every bear that ever there was (and their excited owners) headed up the Sky Tower recently for the inaugural SKYCITY Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
Held at Sky Café on level 50 of the Sky Tower on Saturday 11 August, the special event raised more than $4500 for Kidz First Children’s Hospital, a SKYCITY charity partner.
Brad Burnett, General Manager Sky Tower and Hotels was pleased to give families the opportunity to give back to others in need.
“It’s great to be able to use the Sky Café for such a good cause and to give families a unique experience up the Sky Tower - all the kids loved the opportunity to share the view with their teddy!”
With more than 160 picnic attendees and the event selling out within two weeks, this first event was a resounding success and much loved by the lucky families who headed up the Sky Tower.
At 50 floors up there was plenty of entertainment including face painting, raffle draws and goodie bags, the kids (and their teddy’s!) had a blast. In keeping with the picnic style, kids were given a morning tea lunch box while the adults were treated to baked goods from Sky Café.
The Kidz First Children’s Hospital is purpose built to deliver family centered health care and serve the culturally diverse Counties Manukau Community. SKYCITY has a long partnership with Kidz First looks forward to hosting the annual Kidz First Christmas Party each year.
