SkyCity recognises the role we play, in the communities we operate in, and cares about the impact of our operations on people, communities and the environment. Understanding our impact allows us to build for the future.
SkyCity undertakes a materiality assessment on a regular basis to prioritise the issues that are most important to our business and key stakeholders in the short, medium, and long term. The materiality assessment determines issues that are critical to SkyCity’s financial performance and its broad set of stakeholders, including investors, employees, customers, wider society and the environment.
Our most recent materiality assessment was completed in April 2026, with the assistance of an independent consultant. Internal and external stakeholders were asked to identify issues material to them and a shortlist was derived, shaping the next phase of our SkyCity Sustainability strategy.
For more information on our materiality assessment and sustainability progress read our Annual Report.
Through the Materiality Assessment, SkyCity identified three priority areas within four overarching pillars: Community Connection; Empowering People; Climate & Nature foundations; Guardians of Reputation. These pillars will guide sustainability targets and initiatives for FY27 – FY29.
“At SkyCity, we recognise that sustainability is critical to all levels of our business and operation.”
Our current climate commitments include reducing our absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 38% by 2030 and 73% by 2050, against a 2015 baseline, in line with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) guidance.
Since we began measuring our emissions, SkyCity Group have seen an estimated 23% reduction in our carbon emissions. Under our new Strategy, we continue to have a sustained focus on Climate and Nature Foundations.
