New thrill ride to launch from Auckland's Sky Tower

Skyride

SkyCity and AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand are set to launch the world's highest lift-and-descent ride from Auckland's Sky Tower on 26 June.

SkyRide will take thrill-seekers 192 metres up the outside of New Zealand's tallest building before a high-speed descent back to ground level.

The new attraction is the latest addition to Sky Tower's adventure offering, following the launch of SkyJump in 2001 and SkyWalk in 2007.

From 26 June, visitors will be able to choose from three adventure experiences at the Sky Tower:

  • SkyJump – Starting at 192 metres, guests are suspended in a seated position over the edge before being released in a controlled descent to the plaza below. SkyJump is available as a single or tandem experience.
  • SkyWalk – A guided walk around the outside of the tower, 192 metres above the ground, with uninterrupted views across Auckland.
  • SkyRide – Available as a single or tandem ride, guests are lifted 192 metres up the outside of the tower before descending at speeds of up to 100km/h.

“The Sky Tower has been welcoming visitors for almost 30 years and remains one of the country's most recognisable attractions," says David Allott, SkyCity’s Hospitality General Manager.

"SkyRide is an exhilarating new way to experience Auckland. From the moment you're lifted up the side of the Sky Tower to the high-speed descent back to ground level, it's a ride designed to get your heart racing while taking in some of the best views in the country."
