Sky Tower goes Irish for one night only
18 Mar 2010
Auckland’s iconic landmark, the Sky Tower will be bathed in an emerald light this Wednesday night to celebrate the national holiday of Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day.
Joining in with other world landmarks, the Sky Tower will be switching to green and by doing so will become the first landmark in the world to be lit green for the Irish national holiday, St. Patrick’s Day.
Other world landmarks lighting up for St. Patrick’s Day are the Sydney Opera House, the London Eye, the Empire State Building, Toronto’s CN Tower and the Munich Victory Gate in Munich.
The Honorary Consul General of Ireland based in New Zealand, Rodney Walshe is pleased to see the Auckland Sky Tower get behind St. Patrick’s Day.
“It is great to see New Zealand and likewise all countries around the world get in behind Ireland to celebrate our national day.”
The Auckland Sky Tower is located in the heart of Auckland’s CBD. It is 328m high with three public observation floors, two restaurants, a café and the world famous SkyJump and SkyWalk.
