SKYCITY to host 23rd World Congress on Reading
28 Jan 2010
Another major business win for SKYCITY spells another win for the Auckland and nationwide tourism markets as an expected 1,500 people come to town for the 23rd International Reading Association’s (IRA) World Congress on Reading. Delegates from New Zealand and all over the world will attend the conference, hosted by the New Zealand Reading Association, from 12-15 July and are also anticipated to take advantage of their visit to New Zealand, taking time to explore the City of Auckland and key tourist hotspots around the country.
The success of the 2000 IRA World Congress conference held in New Zealand was a large factor in the successful bid for the 2010 conference which will be themed around “Leading & Learning in Literacy.”
Local Arrangements Chairperson and Principal of Rosebank School, Heather Bell, is delighted to be working with SKYCITY. “SKYCITY Convention Centre and the wider SKYCITY property, offers us the flexibility to meet the needs of what will be a highly demanding audience. The IRA staff have expressed their highest confidence that we have the infrastructure and personnel to deliver to their expectorations.”
General Manager, SKYCITY Hotels Group Auckland, Simon Jamieson, is also looking forward to the major event. “The business will have a significant economic impact for Auckland and New Zealand. This is another endorsement for SKYCITY as the premium conference facility in Auckland.”
SKYCITY is the home of entertainment in Auckland offering visitors the choice of two hotels, a casino, dining options, the SKYCITY Theatre, cinemas, East Day Spa and of course the world famous Sky Jump and Sky Walk right in the heart of the city.
