SKYCITY takes top dining honours in the NT

SKYCITY Darwin’s premium restaurant Evoo has been named the Restaurant of the Year in the Northern Territory. Evoo was also awarded Best Hotel Restaurant.
Last nights 2009 Harbottle on-premise Gold Plate Awards gala dinner, held at SKYCITY Darwin, showcased the best of the Territory’s restaurants and establishments.
Assistant General Manager Emmanuel Cruz praised the Evoo team on a fantastic result, saying “the award recognizes an outstanding team that consistently strives to achieve at the highest level.”
Overlooking Mindil Beach from the third floor of the Casino, Evoo stands for Extra Virgin Olive Oil and offers modern Australian cuisine with a hint of Mediterranean flavour. The menu changes regularly to take advantage of the seasonal produce in the Territory. Last year, Evoo won Best Fine Dining Restaurant in the Territory.
Evoo wasn’t SKYCITY’S only restaurant picking up awards, with its newest restaurant, il Piatto, named the NT’S Best New Establishment. Located on the beachside of SKYCITY, the Italian themed restaurant opened in December 2008, featuring a show kitchen and a menu with cuisine that challenges the everyday perceptions of traditional Italian food.
Mr Cruz said “this award recognizes the dedication and commitment that goes into launching a new restaurant and establishing it in the local marketplace”. He says ”it’s a credit to all of the il Piatto team that have worked tirelessly to ensure each and every customer has the best dining experience.”
Judges dine anonymously at all restaurants as paying guests, assessing all areas of service including table presentation, arrival procedure, menu and beverages, facilities and ambience.
