Over 6,500 people packed all corners of the casino for the major draw, hoping their ticket would be pulled from the barrel.
Over half a million tickets were placed in the barrel to win the Audi TT Coupe Limited Edition, of which there is only 50 Australia-wide, valued at $93,900. To be eligible to enter, customers were required to Dine, Stay or Play at SKYCITY Darwin between January 1 and March 15, 2010.
31 Year old Gabril Reynolds, a manager at a local car company, was ecstatic with the win saying he could not wait to take the sports car for a drive. “I might take it for a drive to Katherine for starters, but then maybe keep it for weekends and special occasions”, he says, sticking to his work ute for weekdays.
Reynolds said his four young daughters will have to take turns in having a ride in the new car until they get too big to fit in the back seat.
Gabril initially purchased four NT Keno tickets that kept winning, enabling him to buy further tickets, earning him approximately 50 chances to win the major prize.
