Involved in your community

SKYCITY is committed to community involvement.

Community Contribution

Since SKYCITY Entertainment Group opened its first casino in Auckland in 1996 the company has been determined to not only provide a good return for its shareholders but to be a responsible corporate citizen and an effective community leader, wherever it operates.

Its community contribution, while comprehensive, can be categorised under three broad headings:

Financial Contributions

Including donations, fundraising, sponsorships, in-kind support and Community Trust grants for a wide range of community groups and activities, as well as contributions through rates, taxes and spending on salaries and wages, goods and services.

Leadership

Through active participation in local business activities, tourism promotion and civic, state and national development.

Fostering the local way of life

Through involvement in, and support for, events and activities that are important to the communities of which it is a citizen. As the company grows, and embraces the future, it remains committed to making a real and positive contribution to the growing list of communities in which it operates.

SKYCITY Community Trusts

Since establishing the SKYCITY Auckland Community Trust in 1996, we have been proud to distribute over $23 million to more than 1,800 community groups and organisations, large and small, through our three Community Trusts in Auckland, Hamilton and Queenstown.

Established to provide funds for community and charitable purposes, the SKYCITY Community Trusts are one of the vehicles we use to ‘put something back’ into the local community.

The independent Trusts aim to help local and regional organisations carry out community assistance and development work, focussing on projects related to health, education, community welfare, arts and culture.

The Trusts call for applications once a year with close-off dates in March for Auckland, July for Queenstown and September for Hamilton.
